The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) clarified on Monday that an old social media post about Ramzan 2026 gas timings in Karachi that is circulating online is misleading.
SSGC said the post being shared is from last year and is no longer valid. The updated gas schedule for Ramzan 1447 Hijri will be shared this week, before the first day of fasting.
Karachi residents have also been advised to check official SSGC channels for any updates during Ramzan 2026.
Ramzan 2026 in Pakistan is expected to start on Thursday, February 19. However, the exact date will depend on the moon sighting by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
New school schedule for Ramzan 2026
The government has announced a big relief for students and notified the new school schedule for the holy month of Ramzan 2026.
According to the notification, the Punjab Government has announced a revised schedule for all educational institutions during Ramzan, effective from 16 February.
Single-shift schools
- Monday to Thursday: 8:30 am – 1:00 pm
- Friday: 8:30 am – 12:30 pm
Double-shift schools
- Monday to Thursday
- Morning shift: 8:30 am – 12:30 pm
- Evening shift: 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
- Friday: 2:30 pm – 5:00 pm (single session for the entire school)
Girls’ schools
All timings for girls’ institutions will be 15 minutes earlier than the schedule.
Prices of samosas, pakoras fixed
Commissioner Karachi Syed Hasan Naqvi has fixed the prices of food items in the city for the convenience of citizens before the start of Ramzan.
In this regard, 13 markets have been selected as model bazaars so that the availability of items at fixed rates can be ensured.
According to the notification, during Ramzan, potato and minced meat samosas will be available at 40 rupees per piece, while one kilogram of pakoras will be available for 640 rupees.
