Sufficient fuel reserves available to meet demand, PM Shehbaz informed

A review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the implementation of austerity measures. The meeting was also attended by the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. During the meeting, a briefing was given on the country’s current reserves, consumption, and logistics.

It was informed in the briefing that there is an adequate stock of petroleum products to meet the country’s needs, and timely practical measures can be taken regarding fuel reserves. However, fuel supply may be severely affected due to the unstable situation in the region, and further conservation measures will need to be adopted in the coming days to address the situation.

The meeting was also briefed on the progress in implementing austerity and cost-saving measures. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that a comprehensive action plan should be prepared in collaboration with the provinces so that emergencies can be managed effectively. He added that adopting a policy of saving and austerity has made it possible to provide relief to the public.

The briefing further stated that the implementation of the Prime Minister’s instructions is being ensured, and the Intelligence Bureau is also monitoring the situation. Shehbaz Sharif emphasised that the elite should set an example by adopting frugality and self-restraint.

The government also appealed to the public to adopt measures to conserve petrol and diesel. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of avoiding any risks that could affect the availability of petroleum products in the coming days, noting that preparations must be made to deal with any possible situation and that behavior must be adjusted in accordance with changing circumstances.

The Prime Minister further stated that until the situation improves, all relevant institutions should remain prepared for emergency measures. The briefing also noted that the entire situation is being monitored and a record of petroleum products is being maintained so that any irregularities can be identified promptly and corrective action can be taken.
