Sui Northern announces new gas supply schedule

ban on domestic gas connections lifted

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited is to limit gas supply to just six hours within a 24-hour period, as the gas supply in Lahore has worsened significantly.

As per the company, only during two specific time slots each day the consumers will receive gas, while supply will remain suspended during afternoon hours, even with low pressure.

According to sources, to ensure gas availability mainly during breakfast and dinner times the schedule has been arranged.

Officials stated that providing gas three times a day is no longer possible, and even maintaining supply during two time slots has become increasingly difficult, due to a severe shortage in the system.

The crisis is largely being attributed to disruptions in LNG imports, which have made it challenging for the company to maintain consistent gas pressure for consumers.

Citizens have been advised to use gas sparingly due to the limited supply, as the ongoing shortage is expected to disrupt daily life.

Gas supply to remain suspended for 24 hours

Gas supply to the industrial sector will remain suspended for 24 hours, the Sui Southern Gas Company announced a day earlier.

According to the company, gas supply will be halted from Sunday morning until 8:00am on Monday, April 13. The decision has been taken due to a shortage of gas in the system, aiming to ensure fair distribution across all sectors.

In a statement, SSGC said the temporary suspension is part of load management measures to balance limited gas resources.

Meanwhile, industrial stakeholders have expressed concern over the shutdown, warning that continued disruptions could negatively impact production activities and business operations.

Earlier, Sui Gas authorities announced a revised gas supply schedule across various parts of Karachi, impacting daily routines for thousands of residents.

According to the new timetable by Sui Southern, gas supply will be available during three specific time slots: morning hours from 5:00 AM to 9:00 AM, midday from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM, and evening from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

The updated schedule will affect several densely populated areas, including North Karachi, Malir, Orangi, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal, among others. Residents in these localities have been advised to adjust their cooking and household activities in line with the new timings to avoid inconvenience.

Officials have stated that the revised schedule is part of ongoing efforts to manage gas distribution more efficiently amid supply constraints. However, the announcement has raised concerns among citizens, particularly those who rely on uninterrupted gas access for daily needs.

Authorities have urged the public to cooperate and plan accordingly while assuring that efforts are being made to improve the overall supply situation.
