The prize money pool of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World cup of the tournament amounted to a mammoth 13.5 million US dollars or around 120 crore Indian rupees.
India won 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World cup final, by achieving a dominant victory of 96 runs over New Zealand. The Men in Blue gave a very commanding performance sealing another ICC title in shortest format of the game.
The tournament was held between 20 nations vying for the trophy.
India came in the tournament as the reigning champions following their 2024 win. For New Zealand, however, this was their second World Cup final, with the dream of lifting the trophy.
Still, India had been dominating the final and there was little room to fight.
The champions of T20 World Cup, India have taken a prize of 3 million dollars while the runners-up New Zealand received a prize of 1.6 million dollars and that’s almost 27.48 crore and 14.65 crore indian rupees.
Teams that were eliminated in the semi-finals were also given significant rewards. Each semi-finalist won 790,000 dollars and sides that made it into the Super 8 won 380,000 dollars.
Even teams which were knocked out in the group stage were rewarded with 250,000 dollars each.
The 2026 tournament marked a notable increase in prize money. The total pool has gone up by about 20 per cent from the 2024 edition, which had 11.25 million dollars on offer.
When India won that title, they made 2.45 million dollars while the second place South Africa got 1.28 million.
The more lucrative rewards in 2026 reflected the speed at which T20 cricket was being commercially developed and an increasing audience base worldwide.
Broadcast deals as well as sponsorships are consistently increasing in monetary value of the tournament.
