T20 World Cup 2026: No major changes in the Squad

T20 World Cup 2026: PCB announces the Squad

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finalised the squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, announcement is expected soon.

The decision was announced by Captain Salman Ali Agha in one of the PCB podcasts this week.

He affirmed that the team will not make any significant changes before the tournament. Thus, this mix of players will become the representatives of Pakistan in the world event.

Agha said the team has greatly improved in recent times. This is what they succeeded in when they allocated certain roles to each player.

In addition, the restructured team was able to win a Tri-series at home last month. This was against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.

Squad Preparation

At the beginning of this year, Pakistan had undergone a massive overhaul of the squad. As an example, they have introduced such players as Abdul Samad and Usman Khan.

The team had to have a clean sheet following the defeat in the Asia Cup final. The captain, therefore, desires stability.

According to Agha, the team has only a remaining six T20 matches remaining before the World Cup. He thinks that this tight agenda does not have time to make any big changes.

The T20 World Cup will be hosted in India and Sri Lanka. Pakistan will aim to demonstrate consistency in other games.

The captain noted the importance of a new mini-series in Sri Lanka. In particular, such a tour will be very beneficial to players before the start of the main tournament.

Shadab Khan’s Return

The PCB has not ruled out the all-rounder Shadab Khan, who has experience. Shadab had shoulder surgery in London earlier this year.

He is now able to successfully undergo rehabilitation. This means that he will be brought back through the Big Bash League.

Agha expressed that he has the ambition of winning the T20 World Cup and the ODI World Cup in 2026 and 2027, respectively. He has a high level of confidence in the existing team of players.

Pakistan will play its opening match against the Netherlands on February 7 in Colombo. The national team will begin its campaign in the same city.
