ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s star rapper Talha Anjum has apologised after waving and wrapping himself in an Indian flag during a concert in Nepal.

The incident took place during Anjum’s performance of ‘Kaun Talha’, a diss track aimed at Indian rapper Naezy, when a fan gave him an Indian flag.

The Pakistani rapper waved it and placed it over his shoulders to show support for his Indian fans in the concert. Later on, Talha confessed that he did not realise how long he had held the flag.

Reacting to the massive criticism online, Talha initially defended his action online, saying, “My art has no borders,” and that he would do it again despite controversy.

However, later in a TV show, he issued an unconditional apology. “To everybody whose heart has been hurt by any of my actions, I would like to apologise,” he said, reaffirming his loyalty to Pakistani fans.

Anjum concluded by emphasising his gratitude to Pakistani fans, saying, “If you are not there, then I am not there. I am all because of Pakistan.” He stressed that his success and identity as a rapper are rooted in his home country.

It is pertinent to mention here that following Pakistan’s success in the May 2025 war against India, there is a complete ban on Pakistani actors working in the Indian entertainment industry.

Since the war, Indian platforms have removed Pakistani music, and social media accounts of Pakistani creators have faced blocks, making cross-border gestures more sensitive than ever.

Even the Indian players refused to shake hands with Pakistani cricketers during the Asia Cup 2025.
