The cast for Disney’s Tangled announced

Tangled Manheim Teagan Croft

Milo Manheim and Teagan Croft have been officially cast by Disney for lead roles in the live-action adaptation of Tangled. This ends months-long global search for the next Flynn Rider and Rapunzel.

Teagan Croft, the rising Australian actress, has been selected to portray the long-haired heroine Rapunzel, and the charming outlaw who will help her escape from the tower will be played by Flynn Rider.

The film will be directed by Michael Gracey, who is known for directing The Greatest Showman and Better Man. The live-action will retain the musical elements that made the 2010 original a fan favourite. The screenplay has already been written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, and production will be led by Kristin Burr.

Sources have revealed that Disney conducted extensive auditions in both the United Kingdom and the United States. The finalists of the auditions screen-tested in London during December. Studio executives were reportedly really careful with the whole casting process. They were aware of the high expectations surrounding the beloved animated classic that grossed $591 million. It also later spawned a successful Disney Channel series.

Teagan Croft is best known for starring in Netflix’s True Spirit, where she portrayed sailor Jessica Watson and for playing Raven in DC’s hit series Titans, which ran for five seasons.

On the other hand, Manheim has already worked with Disney on Disney Channel’s Zombies franchise. He has also appeared in the stage revival of Little Shop of Horrors, and also appeared in School Spirits, which showcases his musical background.

The Tangled live-action is expected to be a high-profile project for Disney. Recently, remakes have shown the potential for major box office success. The casting for the film’s villain mother Gothel, has not been announced.

The live-action film is highly anticipated film. The fans of the original film are both excited and worried as live-action adaptations of animated classics are either hits or flops.
