Telemedicine project serves 3,481 patients

The Ministry of National Health’s Telemedicine Project has delivered healthcare services to 3,481 patients during the January–March quarter across seven centres in Islamabad and Karachi, according to its latest report.

1,928 patients received free medicines valued at Rs 1.5m

The report reveals that 1,928 patients received free medicines valued at over Rs 1.5 million, highlighting the initiative’s role in improving access to essential healthcare services.

It further highlights that the highest proportion of patients 16.6% suffered from respiratory diseases, followed by 12.7% with pediatric conditions, 12.6% with general illnesses, and 11.4% with gastrointestinal diseases.

In terms of service delivery, Islamabad’s Primary Health Centre Gokina recorded the highest number of patients at 936.

This was followed by BHU Bhakkar with 604 patients, Karachi FC Area Dispensary with 558 patients, and Jacob Lines with 499 patients.

Overall, the program has provided the public with benefits amounting to approximately Rs. 8 million, including specialist and general practitioner consultations as well as savings on travel expenses.

Excellent performance of telemedicine project presented to Minister

Earlier, the excellent performance of the telemedicine project was presented at an important meeting chaired by Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal.

During the first three months, thousands of patients received general and specialist care through the successful implementation of the project at eight centres in Islamabad and Karachi. The most prominent services included gynaecology, paediatrics, and dermatology.

According to the data, 65% of the patients were women, while people from various age groups, especially children and adults, benefited significantly from the initiative.

Syed Mustafa Kamal stated that telemedicine not only ensures the provision of quality healthcare in remote areas but is also playing an important role in reducing the burden on major hospitals. He directed that this revolutionary project be further expanded to provide affordable, high-quality healthcare services across the country.
