Universal Pictures is moving toward The Mummy 4, with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz in discussions to return as Rick O’Connell and Evelyn Carnahan, according to multiple industry reports.

The film is expected to be directed by the Radio Silence team, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. David Coggeshall has written the script.

Longtime franchise producer Sean Daniel will produce alongside William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein of Project X Entertainment.

Radio Silence and Project X recently worked together on the Scream revival and other thrillers.

Early chatter describes the project as a sequel rather than a reboot.

One source suggests it could ignore parts of the third movie, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008), though nothing is official.

For now, The Mummy 4 has no announced plot, cast lists, or release window but the anticipation from the fans across the world is overwhelming.

Fraser and Weisz led two hugely popular adventures, The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy Returns (2001).

Those films mixed action, humor, and romance, turning the characters from reluctant partners into a married duo battling the resurrected high priest Imhotep.

Their success helped launch theme park attractions and a sequel, The Scorpion King.

Weisz did not appear in the 2008 installment, making her potential return notable for longtime fans.

Universal last tried a new take with The Mummy (2017), starring Tom Cruise.

Despite a strong global gross, the film drew poor reviews and did not start the planned “Dark Universe.”

Returning to the Fraser-Weisz era taps into clear nostalgia, especially after Fraser’s recent career comeback.

The Mummy 4 is in development, with key creatives attached and talks underway.

Until Universal confirms the cast and story, fans can hope this return brings back the fun, adventurous spirit that made the originals so beloved.
