Web desk: Islamabad has once again become the centre of speed lovers as the three-day Race Wars Pakistan 2025 motorsport festival continues at Shakarparian Parade Ground.
The event is being held from October 17 to 19 and has attracted car enthusiasts from across the country.
First Days of Three-Day “Race Wars Pakistan 2025” Motorsport Festival
On the first day, Friday, head-to-head car races were held, where two cars competed at high speed.
On Saturday, drifting competitions became the main attraction, with drivers showing control and style in fast slides.
The event will end on Sunday with a drag racing competition, where cars will race directly for speed.
The festival not only features races. Tourists have an opportunity to visit car exhibitions, stalls, and other meet-and-greet talks with the drivers.
The fans have also been provided with a special car-building zone that helps them see how racing cars are constructed and altered.
Tragedy
The hype surrounding the festival also reminded people of a sad event that happened in Bahria Town in December 2010, when a drag race resulted in the deaths of several people.
A speeding Toyota Supra lost control and hit the crowd, killing five people and injuring several others.
After that, public racing events were banned across Pakistan, and the Supreme Court took notice, criticising weak safety arrangements.
Now, as motorsports return after many years, the organisers of Race Wars Pakistan 2025 have been told to follow strict safety measures.
These consist of the installation of barriers, crowd control, and emergency response planning.
According to the organisers, they are concerned about safety and aim to make motorsports an enjoyable and safe event for the people.
They stated that we have learned some lessons in the past and all efforts are being put in place to make the event safe and enjoyable.
