Chery set to launch Tiggo 7 PHEV with focus on hybrid efficiency

Chery Tiggo 7

Chery Master Pakistan is preparing to introduce a new plug in hybrid SUV to the local market, with the Tiggo 7 PHEV set for launch on April 10. The move signals the company’s push to expand its presence in Pakistan’s growing new energy vehicle segment.

The Tiggo 7 PHEV will be offered as a locally assembled unit from the start, a step that could help keep prices competitive and improve availability. The company expects deliveries to begin by June 2026, depending on booking demand.

The launch comes as fuel prices remain high across the country, making fuel efficiency a key concern for buyers. Chery says the new model can cut fuel costs by more than 70 percent when used mainly in electric mode for daily travel. This may appeal to urban drivers looking to reduce running expenses without giving up the flexibility of a petrol engine.

Focus on efficiency and performance

The vehicle is built on Chery’s latest hybrid platform, combining a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine with an 18.3 kWh battery and a dedicated hybrid transmission. Together, the system produces 342 horsepower and 525 Nm of torque. The company claims the SUV can go from 0 to 100 km per hour in around 8.4 seconds.

It also offers over 90 kilometres of pure electric driving range, while the total combined range exceeds 1,200 kilometres. This allows the vehicle to be used both for daily city commutes and longer intercity travel without frequent refuelling stops.

In terms of safety and features, the Tiggo 7 PHEV comes with eight airbags and Level 2 driver assistance systems. Inside, it includes a large dual screen display, a premium Sony sound system and vehicle to load capability, which allows external devices to be powered from the car.

Globally, the Tiggo 7 has been one of Chery’s best selling models and has performed strongly in export markets. The company operates in more than 120 countries and has built a large international customer base over the years.

In Pakistan, Chery works with Master Auto Engineering, part of the Master Group. The company says it has already set up a nationwide dealership and aftersales network, with test drives available ahead of the launch.

Pricing and booking details are expected to be shared on April 10. Early deliveries are being planned to avoid any possible policy changes that could affect hybrid vehicles.

With limited plug in hybrid options currently available in this segment, the Tiggo 7 PHEV is likely to draw attention from buyers looking for a balance between fuel savings and performance.
