WEB DESK: TikTok creators are set to earn more money following a major update in the platform’s subscription model. Unfortunately this provision does not apply to Pakistani users.
At the 2025 US Creator Summit, the company announced that eligible creators can now earn up to 90 percent of revenue from subscriptions. However, certain conditions apply.
Currently, TikTok pays 70 percent of subscription revenue, but creators can earn an additional 20 percent bonus if they meet the criteria, having at least 10,000 followers, 100,000 views in the last month, and posting three or more subscription-only videos within that period.
“The more consistent you are, the more you earn,” said Marisa Hammonds, TikTok’s Global Head of Creator Marketing and Community, during the summit.
TikTok said the move aims to boost community engagement while offering creators more ways to monetize their content.
“Subscriptions help creators build stronger, more engaged communities while earning through monthly fees that unlock exclusive benefits like badges, subscriber-only posts, and chat features,” the company said in a statement.
For now, the new payout system applies only to US and Canadian creators, but TikTok plans to expand it globally in the coming months.
According to the company’s website, creators outside these regions currently receive 50 percent of subscription revenue, with potential bonuses pushing it up to 70 percent.
TikTok does not offer direct payments to users in Pakistan through options like the Creator Fund. However, Pakistani creators can still earn income through brand partnerships, sponsored posts, and by promoting or selling their own products and services.
