Toshakhana 2 case: Convicts given reduced sentence based on age, gender

Imran Khan tosha khana case 2

Rawalpindi: The written verdict in the Toshakhana-2 case has been announced at Adiala Jail, sentencing PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to 17 years each in jail and a fine of over Rs 10 million

According to the detailed judgement, the court granted reductions in their sentences based on personal factors.
Imran Khan received a lighter sentence due to his age, while Bushra Bibi was given a reduced term as a woman.

Both were fined Rs 16,425,650 each.

Judge Shah Rukh Arjumand noted that the convicts were also given the benefit of Section 382-B, and time already served in jail will count toward their sentence.

The verdict emphasized that the reductions were made in accordance with legal provisions, taking age and gender into account to ensure balanced justice.

The Toshakhana-2 case pertains to allegations regarding the alleged misuse and improper handling of state gifts received during the PTI founder Imran Khan’s tenure in office as a public office holder and not as a politician.

The case is based on a Bvlgari jewellery gift set received in May 2021, which was not deposited and was retained by the couple at a nominal price. Under Pakistani law, state gifts belong to the state. The record states the gift was entered in registers without physical deposit.
