An important traffic advisory has been issued on Saturday by the Islamabad Traffic Police. They have announced major road diversions and closures across key routes in the federal capital.
Public transport has been completely banned by the authorities from entering the Expressway during this period.
Specific instructions have also been given to transporters not to stop buses at bus stops or designated loops. These measures are aimed at ensuring security and maintaining smooth traffic flow.
The Red Zone has also been extended and has been closed for all kinds of movement. This will restrict movement in several significant central parts of the city.
Several major arteries of Islamabad have been closed to traffic. The major arteries include Kashmir Chowk from Club Road towards Zero Point via Srinagar highway.
Srinagar Highway from Zero Point to Serena Chowk, Shakarparian Road from Chand Tara Chowk towards Seventh Avenue, Jinnah Avenue from Khayaban Chowk towards Blue Area, and Margalla Road from Faisal Chowk to Trail 3.
Citizens have been advised by the traffic police to avoid unnecessary travel and do advance planning for travel to minimise inconvenience.
The travellers have also been requested to fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies that are deployed across the city.
If any residents want real-time updates, they are advised to follow the Islamabad Traffic Police’s official WhatsApp channel and their other social media platforms.
It has been emphasised by the authorities that staying informed and adhering to the advisory is the only way to ensure public safety and reduce congestion during the restrictions.
