As Islamabad all set for the famous marathon, the Traffic Police announced a detailed plan for commuters to avoid any inconvenience.
The marathon planned on January 25, 2026 to cover major roads of the Islamabad from F-9 park to D-Chowk Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have issued a comprehensive advisory for traffic management plan for commuters.
The diversion for traffic will be obligatory from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to facilitate sprinters and minimize interruption for commuters, said ITP.
During the marathon commuters have been urged to use other routes and plan travel in advance.
The marathon route will start at 12 Dari in F-9 Park, pass through F-10 Gate and Jinnah Avenue, reach D-Chowk and then loop back via Jinnah Avenue.
Runners will turn right at the Tayyab Erdogan Flyover onto Ninth Avenue before re-entering F-9 Park and finishing at the starting point. The event includes both full (42 km) and half (21 km) marathon races.
During the event, Jinnah Avenue from F-9 Park to D-Chowk will be partially closed, with single-side traffic suspended. Multiple diversions will be placed at key intersections including F-10 Roundabout, Ninth Avenue, Shaheen Chowk, Blue Area loops, and approaches to D-Chowk, with designated alternatives through Margalla Road, Faisal Avenue, Srinagar Highway, and adjacent service roads.
ITP has said that traffic wardens have been deployed at all major intersections to guide motorists and ensure smooth flow. The public has been requested to cooperate with traffic staff and follow instructions.
