KUALA LUMPUR: US President Donald Trump has once again praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir during his visit to Malaysia to attend the ASEAN summit.
Addressing the media during a signing ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Trump said that Pakistani prime minister and Field Marshal are great leaders.
Commenting on the Pak-Afghan border escalation, the US president stated that Saudi Arabia’s mediation had eased tensions between the two neighbouring countries on the border.
Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim joined Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to sign the pact.
“This a momentous day for the people of Southeast Asia,” Trump said.
Hun Manet and Charnvirakul paused for a photo opportunity and then both shook hands with Trump and Anwar.
“We got it stopped,” Trump says of the fighting between the sides.
