US President Donald Trump has stated that his administration’s campaign against Iran has “successfully eliminated” the nation’s air force and navy with Germany helping out.

“We’re performing exceptionally well,” Trump stated on Tuesday during a press conference at the White House alongside German Chancellor Friedrich Merz prior to their meeting.

“They possess no navy, it has been eliminated. They have no air force, it has been eliminated. They lack air detection that has been eliminated,” Trump stated.

Iran shuts down the Strait of Hormuz amid US Israel strikes

Trump’s comments were made on the fourth day of US-Israeli strikes on Iran, as Tehran shut down the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran persisted with its retaliatory missile and drone assaults on US and allied positions throughout the Gulf region.

Trump indicated that he had authorised the strike against Iran on Saturday because he “had a feeling” that Iran would initiate an attack first as discussions regarding its nuclear program reached an impasse.

When questioned if Israel might have “forced” his decision to attack Iran, Trump replied, “No, in fact, I might have forced their decision.”

On Monday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the US engaged Iran because it was aware that Israel was on the verge of bombing that nation, and because the Trump administration believed that Iran would subsequently target US facilities in the area.

Trump says not possible to know full scope of US Iran war

President Donald Trump has informed lawmakers that it is currently impossible to know the “full scope and duration” of the United States’ operation in Iran.

In a letter to Congress regarding the military action, Trump stated that the threat posed by Iran had become “untenable” despite attempts to reach a diplomatic resolution.

This week, lawmakers are scheduled to vote on a war powers resolution designed to restrict Trump’s military activities in Iran.

However, it encounters considerable obstacles, and it remains uncertain how much its approval would change the situation in the conflict.
