In Islamabad, due to tightened security regarding the US-Iran talks, the metro bus service running in the twin cities has been restricted.

Metro bus service operating in the Twin Cities has been limited.

On the instructions of the district administration, the metro bus service has been limited; now the metro bus service will remain operational from Saddar Station to PIMS, while the metro bus service from PIMS Station to Pak Secretariat has been suspended.

For the arrival and departure of the high-profile American and Iranian delegations, a comprehensive traffic management plan for April 9 and 10 has been finalised.

The Red Zone will be completely cordoned off; however, the majority of the city arteries will be open to the public.

The Islamabad Expressway from Zero Point to Koral Chowk and the Old Airport Road will stay closed to all traffic from both directions during this period.

The entrance of heavy traffic into Islamabad has also been banned by the administration durig the summit.

The traffic police to maintain the flow of the commuters, have also established several primary diversion routes.

If a traveller is moving from Peshawar to Rawalpindi they should utilise Chakri, Faisla Mor amd Chak Belly Road to reach Rawat.

Within the capital, the 9th Avenue will be the primary transit point. The traffic specifically from G5, G6 and F6 will divert to Margalla Road and 9th Avenue.

Exams postponement

Matriculation exams scheduled for April 10 in Rawalpindi city have been postponed across 64 examination centres.

The postponement specifically affects the Urdu Compulsory and Geography papers, while exams in other districts of the Rawalpindi Division will proceed as scheduled. A new date for these postponed papers will be announced later.

In other news a massive increase in passengers has been witnessed on the Green Electric Bus and Red Metro Bus services operating between Islamabad and Rawalpindi following the government’s decision to provide free travel facilities.

The media reports are suggesting that daily ridership on both services has exceeded 170,000 passengers.

The Rawalpindi Red Metro Bus service has alone recorded more than 129,000 daily commuters. The Green electric buses operating on various feeder routes have carried over 40000 passengers per day.

Under the new decision by the government free travel will be provided and is being provided to citizens who show their national identity cards. Students can also travel freely by presenting their student cards.

Even on weekends despite being day offs nearly 130,000 passengers travel between the twin cities by using these bus services.

The Green Electric feeder buses have also been experiencing overwhelming crowds. On average more than 40000 are using the service in a single day.

A combined total of 170,000 citizens are benefiting from the bus services daily.

The reason for free bus services has been the rise in petrol prices. The free travel will be for one month.
