Two new airlines are going to start their operation in Pakistan. One airline is for cargo, and the other is for passengers, bringing ease for travellers and industrialists.
Airport sources confirmed that Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) and the related airlines have completed all the preparations for the launch of two new airlines.
A new passenger airline, Air Karachi, has completed an aircraft leasing contract. The airline will start its regular operation in May or June this year.
Meanwhile, the cargo sector has also seen major progress. TCS is acquiring a Boeing 747-400 aircraft, which it will initially use for cargo services only. C-Tow Air, which already operates cargo flights, is expanding its fleet and plans to add another Boeing 747-400 aircraft.
Several experts in the airline sector said that the launch of a new cargo airline would be beneficial for Pakistan’s local companies as it would surely support the domestic industry and exports.
According to the official statistics, 90,000 to 100,000 passengers travel to domestic and international destinations from Pakistan. Travellers currently use the services of Fly Jinnah, PIA, and several foreign airlines, including those from the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia.
A spokesperson for the Pakistan Airports Authority stated that the department is providing all the necessary facilities for the launch of two new airlines for the convenience of travellers and industrialists.
Pak-Bangladesh air connectivity restored
Earlier, last month, an aircraft from Bangladesh reached Pakistan after almost 14 years. According to the reports, the aircraft from Bangladesh had 150 passengers on board who reached Karachi to meet their relatives.
Officials also held a cake-cutting ceremony at the airport, which Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori attended.
After the cake-cutting ceremony, Governor Sindh, Kamran Tessori, said that Pakistan is doing better in diplomatic affairs as it achieved success in the past months. Governor Sindh also expressed hope for betterment in Pakistan.
