UK Army Chief Meets Field Marshal Asim Munir at GHQ

Web desk: General Sir Charles Roland Vincent Walker, Chief of the General Staff (CGS) of the United Kingdom Army, met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, at General Headquarters (GHQ) on Thursday.

According to ISPR, the two military leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security, and ways to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration for peace and stability in the region.

The visiting UK Army Chief lauded the Pakistan Army’s efforts and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and its role in promoting regional peace.

“During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security and measures to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation were discussed. Both sides reiterated the need for continued collaboration to ensure peace and stability in the region,” the statement read.

Earlier, upon arrival at GHQ, General Walker laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada to pay tribute to the martyrs. He was also presented with a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army.

CJCSC meets Sultan of Brunei

General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI, NI (M), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) had an audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam during an official visit to an official visit to Brunei Darussalam.

The CJCSC also held separate meetings with Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence-II, and Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

General Sahir Shamshad Mirza also visited KDB Darulaman at Muara Naval Base and the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces, where he delivered a lecture on “Pakistan’s Contributions to Regional Peace and Stability.” He also interacted with students of the Command and Staff course, including officers from 19 foreign countries.

During the meetings, both sides discussed the evolving global and regional security situation. The CJCSC reaffirmed Pakistan’s cordial relations with Brunei and emphasised the need to further enhance military-to-military cooperation.

His Majesty the Sultan and Brunei’s civil and military leadership appreciated the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
