Big update for UK visa applicants in Pakistan

UK visa Pakistan

The United Kingdom has made it clear that it will be taking tough actions against employers who are participating in fraudulent visa sponsorship schemes.

According to British media reports, companies that break immigration laws would face a ban on hiring workers from overseas.

Authorities say fake sponsorship cases have multiplied by five and are now being more closely monitored.

The move is part of wider measures to avoid the misuse of the immigration system and enhance compliance with immigration rules on sponsoring migrants.

New Rules for Dual Nationals from February 25

In a separate development, revised rules on entry for dual nationals go into effect on Wednesday, February 25.

Under the new regulations, it is possible that people with dual citizenship, but no British passport, could be barred from entering the UK.

Media reported that dual nationals would have to carry appropriate documentation, including a British passport, a valid visa or a Certificate of Entitlement to the Right of Abode to enter the country.

What the Pakistani Dual Nationals Need to Know

Check Your Citizenship Status

If you are a Pakistani dual national and have British citizenship your legal right to live and enter the UK is not affected. However, the required travel documents have been updated.

      Documents Necessary for Entry

If you are a British citizen (dual national), you will need to carry one of the following:

      • A valid British passport
      • A qualifying expired British passport (in some cases after February 25, 2026)
      • Certificate of Entitlement Placed in a non-British Passport
      • A UK Emergency Travel Document

It will no longer be possible to only travel with a non-British passport if it does not include a Certificate of Entitlement.

If you are only travelling on Pakistani passport, you are expected to take either UK visa or Tourist visa (Electronic Travel Authorisation) provided you are eligible.

      What Is the ETA?

The Electronic travel authorisation (ETA) forms part of the UK’s digital border system. It allows eligible people to stay in the UK for up to six months to travel or visit family.
