The bowling coach of Pakistan’s cricket team, Umar Gul, has broken his silence over the alleged reports of his fight with the Pakistani bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi.

He dismissed the claims by saying that it was a misunderstanding.

Speaking during a press conference on May 18, Umar Gul said that he was tagged in a social media post, in which it was claimed that Shaheen Afridi was not listening to the coach’s instructions.

He explained that the incident took place when Hasan Ali suffered an injury and fell to the ground, while Shaheen Afridi was sitting outside the field at the time.

According to Umar Gul, Shaheen usually tapes his knee during bowling sessions, and the discussion was related to that matter.

He said he was having a normal conversation with Shaheen Afridi about being asked to go outside when Sarfaraz Ahmed arrived and informed them that Hasan Ali had suffered a head injury.

The bowling coach said the incident had been wrongly portrayed as a fight, insisting that nothing of the sort had happened.

He added that the reaction seen in the viral video was simply a natural response and that he was unaware the cameras were recording at the time.

The clarification came after a video circulating on social media prompted speculation among users that a heated exchange had taken place between the coach and the fast bowler.
