The US army is targeting specific locations in Iran, as per the media reports.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) in its post on X, formerly known as Twitter, said, “US Central Command forces began launching self-defense strikes against Iran at 5 p.m. ET today at the Commander in Chief’s direction, in response to yesterday’s downing of a US Army Apache helicopter. The mission is a proportional response to unjustified Iranian aggression.”
According to the US CENTCOM, Iran allegedly shot down a modern Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the Iranian media, the recent strikes carried out by the US caused explosions in the coastal area of Sirik.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that its forces have begun defensive strikes against Iran.
It added that these attacks were carried out in response to the downing of a US military Apache helicopter the previous day.
Iran’s Mehr News Agency reported that residents of Sirik Port and nearby villages heard multiple explosions in the area, though the nature of the blasts is still unknown.
The US President Donald Trump said a few hours earlier that Iran had shot down a modern American Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz, and that US forces would respond with the strongest possible retaliation.
In a statement on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump alleged that an advanced US military Apache helicopter was shot down by Iran near the Strait of Hormuz and fell into the sea.
President Trump further said he had been informed by the US military that Iranian forces targeted a modern AH-64 Apache helicopter on patrol the previous night.
He also stated that both pilots aboard the helicopter were rescued through a high-level rescue operation, and that the US forces were preparing a strong response against Iran.
