Usman Mushtaq, a key member of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) and a close associate of Khawaja Mehran, has announced his complete disassociation from the organisation, distancing himself from its activities and ideology.
In a statement issued after returning from the Rawalakot sit-in, Usman Mushtaq said that although he had participated in the protest alongside Khawaja Mehran, his observations during the event led him to conclude that the organisation had deviated from its original claims and public welfare agenda.
He said he initially supported the committee because it raised issues affecting ordinary citizens, including flour prices, electricity tariffs, and health card facilities. However, he later realised that the group’s current conduct and activities no longer reflected the cause of public rights and appeared to serve a different agenda.
Mushtaq also urged young people to avoid becoming part of propaganda or provocative campaigns, advising them to assess facts carefully and stay away from elements seeking to mislead them.
