Pakistan’s spinner Usman Tariq who made an impressive debut against South Africa, opened up on his unusual bowling action.
The off-spinner had been reported by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Chris Brown during a PSL 10 match between Quetta Gladiators and Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Although allowed to continue bowling under league rules, he was sidelined by the team, which requested the PCB to arrange for testing of his action.
After the request, the spinner underwent an official assessment at the PCB-accredited biomechanics lab in Lahore, where his bowling action was found to be legal.
However, Tariq was later officially cleared of having a suspect bowling action, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed.
“Quetta Gladiators spinner Usman Tariq, who was earlier reported for a suspect bowling action, has cleared his bowling assessment after undergoing testing at the PCB-accredited biomechanics lab in Lahore,” read the PCB’s official statement.
The off spinner made an impressive outing with two crucial wickets against South Africa yesterday.
Tariq also addressed his unusual bowling action saying that “I am born with a unique right elbow which has two corners instead of one. That’s just how my arm is”.
The right-arm off-spinner Usman Tariq made his debut.
The 27-year-old was presented with Pakistan T20I cap No. 124 by ace pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi in a team huddle ahead of the commencement of the all-important fixture.
