KARACHI: In yet another development, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a new service to make the sale and purchase of vehicles easy for users.
As per details, NADRA rolled out a verification facility for buying and selling of registered vehicles in Sindh.
The Sindh government and NADRA jointly introduced the facility and vehicle and car sellers and buyers can verify the details via the NADRA’s Pak ID mobile application.
NADRA facial verification certificates
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) announced on Wednesday that, starting January 20, 2026, it will begin issuing facial recognition-based biometric verification certificates. These certificates will be provided at all registration centres.
These directives have been issued by the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control to NADRA.
The Federal government has revised the National Identity Card rules in order to expand the definition of biometrics.
Additionally, facial photographs and Iris scans will now be recognised legally as valid biometric identifiers.
This change will provide a strong foundation for the application of a multi-biometric verification system in Pakistan, NADRA says.
How to get NADRA facial verification certificates
Explaining the procedure, NADRA said that if the certification of fingerprints fails at the service provider’s end, the citizen will be directed to the nearest registration centre.
The new photograph will be matched with the image already stored in NADRA’s database system.
When the verification is successful, a certificate stating the purpose of verification, along with the citizen’s recent photograph, the photograph on record, CNIC number, name, father’s name, a unique tracking ID and a QR code will be issued.
According to the authority, this certificate will be valid for 7 days. The citizen can present it to the relevant institution requiring biometric verification during the 7-day time period.

The institution will then keep the certificate on record and verify it online through Nadra.
The reason behind this change is to make things easier for the people. Fingerprints of many citizens fade over time due to medical conditions, age or accidents.
When these citizens go to banks for SIM registration or seek services that might require biometric verifications, they face significant difficulties.
