Shujaat Hashmi, a well-known actor and voice artist of Pakistan, passed away on Friday after a long illness. He had been suffering from health issues for some time.

Shujaat Hashmi was among the senior artists and voice actors of the country. He earned a prominent position in the showbiz industry through his acting and voice work. A large number of fans admired his voice and style.

His son, Shahkar Hashmi, said that Shujaat Hashmi had been ill for some time. His funeral prayer will be offered tonight at 9 pm at Jamia Naeemia.

Shujaat Hashmi began his television career with the drama serial Kahaar, directed by Yaawar Hayat. His other popular dramas include Zard Dopahar, Waris, Rani, Razia and Karchiyan. He also made a name in films with his strong performances.

His well-known films include Khaak aur Khoon, Dostana and Babul Diyan Galiyan. He was considered one of the leading actors of Pakistan Television’s golden era.

The Government of Pakistan awarded him the Presidential Pride of Performance in August 1994.
