Senior Indian actor Nana Patekar has died at the age of 75. According to Indian media reports, Nana Patekar was rushed to a private hospital in Goa in an unconscious condition on Thursday morning, where doctors confirmed his death. He is believed to have died of a heart attack.
Indian media reported that Nana Patekar was found unconscious at his flat in Goa after complaining of severe chest pain.
According to information provided by Nana Patekar’s son, Malhar Patekar, a medical team was sent to the actor’s flat after he complained of severe chest pain. When the team arrived, the actor was unconscious. He was subsequently rushed to hospital, where doctors confirmed his death at 5:20am.
An autopsy is expected to be conducted today to determine the exact cause of Nana Patekar’s death.
According to Indian media, Nana Patekar’s real name was Vishwanath Patekar, and he was regarded as one of the most respected actors in Hindi and Marathi cinema.
He began his film career in 1978 and went on to deliver acclaimed performances in numerous films, including Parinda, Krantiveer, Agni Sakshi, Khamoshi: The Musical, Ab Tak Chhappan and Welcome.
Nana Patekar was a recipient of three National Film Awards. He was also honoured with the Padma Shri in 2013.
