Commuters in Islamabad face traffic congestion on Thursday (today) evening as VIP movement affects traffic flow on some of the capital’s main highways.
VIP movement was reported on Islamabad’s main highways at around 6:19pm on August 20, 2026. The traffic would take some time to clear after the movement ends.

Islamabad frequently experiences temporary traffic restrictions and diversions during official and VIP movements. Similar traffic alerts have previously been issued for the Islamabad Expressway and other major routes in the federal capital.
Temporary restrictions can also cause traffic to build up on connecting roads as vehicles are diverted or held until security movements have passed.
The Islamabad Expressway is particularly important for traffic between Islamabad and Rawalpindi and connects with several major areas, including Zero Point, Faizabad, Khanna and the Old Airport area.
Traffic alert
Motorists travelling through affected areas could face temporary delays. Commuters travelling through Islamabad during such disruptions should allow additional journey time and follow current traffic advisories before selecting their routes.
However, the traffic is temporary and expected to ease after the VIP movement is cleared.
