Heartfelt wishes were expressed from all over the world on Wasim Akram’s 60th birthday, most notably from his wife Shaniera Akram who posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram that garnered an overwhelming number of comments, including from within Pakistan.
Shaniera shared a series of pictures of Wasim Akram with family and fans, including some close-up shots of the player and other family photos.
She also sent out a warm birthday message with the images, giving him the credit of being the “greatest of all time” both for his cricket career and his part in her life as well as the family.
In the message, she called him a loving husband, a loyal friend, a devoted father, a man of patriotism and a man beyond the realm of the cricket field and a proud Pakistani.
Her sentiments were of admiration for his abilities as a sportsman and a man, showing a portrait of a life lauded for both fame and family.
Within minutes, the post started attracting a horde of birthday wishes, prayers, and messages of respect for the former fast bowler from not only Pakistan but from across the globe as well.
The cricket enthusiasts still consider him as one of the greatest figures in the sport, and his 60th birthday was a hot topic.
In a separate message, Shaniera also credited fans from India who had sent in their wishes and could not send them directly as of yet due to a temporary ban on Wasim Akram’s social media account.
She expressed her gratitude to them on his behalf and expressed her gratitude for the continued cross-border admiration she receives.
In 2011, Wasim met Shaniera in Melbourne and in 2013 they were married in Lahore.
They have a daughter together, and Wasim Akram has two sons from a previous marriage, making for a blended family that is popular among fans.
