The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning about potential dangers and disasters due to rainfall, forecasting thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail in various parts of the country over the next 12 to 24 hours.
According to the NDMA, rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in several areas of Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, Umerkot, Mithi, Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, and surrounding regions.
The alert also predicts rain with thunderstorms in parts of Balochistan, including Zhob, Quetta, Ziarat, Kalat, Qila Saifullah, Pishin, Mastung, Barkhan, Qila Abdullah, Chaman, Noshki, and nearby areas.
Similarly, in the Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir regions, rain, strong winds, and hail are likely in Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Nagar, Ghizer, Diamer, Astore, Khulna, Shigar, Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Haveli, Poonch, Neelum Valley, Kotli, Mirpur, and Bhimber. Snowfall is also expected in some upper-level areas.
Earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PDM) issued a weather forecast of heavy rain and thunderstorms in different cities across Pakistan from April 5 to April 9.
According to the press release issued by PMD, a hailstorm is expected in Punjab and Islamabad.
Widespread rain, windstorms and thunderstorms (with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms) are expected in Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Khushab, Noorpur Thal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Pakpattan, Okara, Kasur and Sahiwal from April 6 (evening/night) to April 9.
The press release further said that windstorms and thunderstorms, along with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms, are expected in Sukkur, Kashmore, Ghotki, Jamshoro, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Qambar Shahdadkot.
