The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather alert, forecasting rain and snowfall across multiple regions of the country over the next 12 to 24 hours.
According to an NDMA spokesperson, rainfall is expected in several areas of Azad Kashmir, including Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, Bagh, Haveli, Kotli, and Mirpur. Meanwhile, parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, such as Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Astore, Ghizar, Diamer, Ghanche, and Shigar, are likely to experience both rain and snowfall during the same period.
Rain also expected in various cities of Punjab
Rain is also expected in Islamabad and various cities of Punjab, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin, Chakwal, Jhelum, Attock, Murree, Bhakkar, Khushab, and Mianwali, among others.
Thunderstorms, snowfall likely in KP
Thunderstorms and snowfall are likely in Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Battagram, Kohistan, Swat, Malakand, Shangla and Chitral.
According to the NDMA, more rain is expected in various districts of Sindh during the next 12 to 24 hours. Intermittent rain is likely in Hyderabad, Tharparkar, Thatta, Badin, Ghotki, Sukkur, Rohri, Khairpur, Mirpurkhas, Mithi, Umerkot, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, and Karachi.
Rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms is expected in Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Pishin, Barkhan, Sibi, Dera Bugti, Khuzdar, Awaran, Turbat, and Gwadar.
There is a risk of water accumulation in low-lying areas, which may disrupt traffic flow. Strong winds and gusts may also cause damage to weak structures and installations. The NDMA has directed all provincial and district authorities to remain on alert.
