Much-awaited rain has improved the weather in Islamabad and several upper northern areas, including Swat, Murree and Dir Bala on Wednesday after a long spell of scorching heat.

Islamabad rain
Strong winds along with rain have reached the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Heavy rainfall was also reported on the M-2 Motorway.
Meanwhile, a tree fell on a car near the F-7 Cheezious restaurant during the storm. Drivers and motorbike riders have been urged to drive carefully and avoid unnecessary travel during the bad weather.

KP weather
In addition to this, heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and flash floods caused deaths and damage in several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), two children were killed, and three others were injured after lightning struck in Khyber district during the severe weather.
In Lower Chitral, heavy rain and a cloudburst damaged 27 houses. Flash floods also affected two mosques, two shops, one bridge, and four vehicles.
In Upper Chitral’s Mastuj area, flash floods damaged a house and irrigation canals in Yarkhun.
In Bajaur, a dust storm followed by light rain hit the district after several days of extreme heat.
Strong winds disrupted traffic and daily activities. However, the change in weather also brought relief by lowering the temperature.

When will it rain in Karachi
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Karachi is not expected to receive rainfall until July 13. But the city is likely to remain partly cloudy and humid over the next three days.
The Met Office said there is a chance of light drizzle during this period. Winds are expected to blow at speeds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour.
It also said a new westerly weather system is likely to enter the country from this evening or tonight. At the same time, moist winds from the Arabian Sea are moving into the eastern and central parts of Pakistan.
Traffic chaos on main Islamabad roads after rain
Main Islamabad roads are seeing an increase in traffic activity and rush in main market places of the city like the F-6 and F-10 areas. The traffic police are unable to control the heavy influx of traffic, leading to long queues of cars on the roads.
