Web desk: WhatsApp has begun rolling out its new “Ask Meta AI” feature in Pakistan, giving users the option to interact with Meta’s assistant directly from their chats.
The tool aims to make conversations more useful by helping with quick replies, answering questions, and even summarising content.
Instead of opening another app or switching to a separate chatbot, people can now type their queries within a private or group chat, and Meta AI will respond instantly.
The feature also works with forwarded messages, photos, or videos, allowing users to get extra context or quick explanations without leaving the chat window.
A standout addition is the private message summary option. It allows users who have missed long conversations to receive a neat summary of unread chats.
WhatsApp has made it clear that while content shared with Ask Meta AI is processed by the system, normal chats remain fully protected with end-to-end encryption.
The update is being released gradually across Pakistan. Some users are already seeing the Ask Meta AI icon after updating WhatsApp, while others may need to wait for server-side activation even if they have the same version installed.
After adding similar features to Facebook and Instagram, the company is now turning WhatsApp into more than just a messaging app, placing it as an AI-powered assistant for daily communication.
