WhatsApp has introduced a new security feature for the data protection of its users.
As per the officials of the WhatsApp, a series of security updates has been designed to give users stronger protection for their accounts and more information when receiving calls from unknown numbers.
The messaging platform is allowing users to choose a longer password for two-step verification, moving beyond the traditional six-digit PIN.
The password can include a combination of letters, numbers and special characters, offering an additional layer of security.
WhatsApp, which has more than three billion users worldwide, has also expanded its support for passkeys.
Passkeys allow users to verify their identity using security features already built into their devices, such as fingerprints, Face ID or screen locks.
They are designed to provide a simpler and more secure alternative to traditional passwords.
Previously, WhatsApp allowed users to create a single passkey for an account.
The company now supports multiple passkeys, which could make it easier for people who use more than one device or switch between Android and iOS.
WhatsApp says more than one billion users have already created a passkey.
The company is also adding more information about calls from unknown numbers on Android devices.
Users may be shown details such as whether a caller is calling from another country or whether they share any WhatsApp groups.
The additional information is intended to help users make a more informed decision about whether to answer unfamiliar calls.
The changes form part of WhatsApp’s wider efforts to improve account security while giving users greater control over how they interact with unknown contacts.
