Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced that financial assistance will be provided within two to three weeks to the victims of the Gul Plaza tragedy to help affected traders restart their businesses.
While speaking to the media, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of public cooperation to prevent such incidents in the future. He said that compensation of Rs 10 million is being given to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident.
He added that lists of affected shops have been prepared in collaboration with the Karachi Chamber of Commerce.
He clarified that the reconstruction of Gul Plaza is targeted to be completed within two years, adding that the provincial government is making every possible effort to support the victims during this difficult period.

The Sindh Cabinet had approved financial relief for the victims of the Gul Plaza tragedy, including Rs 10 million per person for the families of those who lost their lives. The decision was taken during a provincial cabinet meeting presided over by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
It was also informed that affected shopkeepers are being provided Rs 5 lac each by the commissioner to cover kitchen and utility expenses. In addition, the cabinet approved an interest-free loan of Rs 1 crore for each affected shopkeeper to help them restart their businesses. The Sindh government will bear the interest on these loans.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said, “It is the responsibility of all of us to provide all possible relief to the victims of this tragedy.” The cabinet expressed deep regret over the incident. Ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon, Nasir Hussain Shah, Saeed Ghani, and Ziaul Hasan Lanjrani were present during the meeting.
A sub-committee has been formed to review the report of the inquiry committee headed by the Karachi commissioner. Based on this report, the sub-committee will recommend further actions and a detailed plan for relief measures.
Murad Ali Shah further stated that all affected shopkeepers will be provided with shop facilities within two months to resume their businesses. The government has committed to supporting victims and ensuring that they can rebuild their livelihoods as quickly as possible.
