The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast regarding the sighting of the Ramadan moon according to which the first day of Ramadan in Pakistan is likely to fall on February 19, 2026.
According to the department, the new moon of Ramadan will be born on February 17, 2026, at 5:01 PM and there is a strong possibility of moon sighting in different parts of the country on the evening of February 18.
The Meteorological Department said that at the time of sunset in Karachi on February 18 the moon’s age will be approximately 26 hours which is considered suitable for sighting.
In Karachi the sun will set at 6:25 PM while the moon will set at 7:24 PM, improving the chances of visibility.
The department further said that weather conditions across most parts of the country on February 18 are expected to remain partly cloudy but this is unlikely to pose a major obstacle to moon sighting.
Experts say that for moon sighting the moon’s age should be at least 19 hours a condition that will be met on this date.
Based on this meteorologists have predicted that the first day of Ramadan is most likely to be observed nationwide on February 19.
Did Punjab announce revised school timings for Ramadan 2026?
As Ramadan 2026 approaches, students and parents also start wondering if the school timing will be revised during the holy month.
As per details, the School Education Department in Punjab have unveiled that new timings will be announced for all the schools in the province for Ramadan 2026.
Every year, the duration of the school timings is reduced in Ramadan in order to facilitate students and parents.
The new school timing will likely be 8:30 am to 1:00 pm Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm on Fridays for regular schools.
However, for double shift, the first shift will start from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, whereas the second shift will be from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with Friday timings adjusted to 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
