A new weather system has entered in the different parts of the country to bring forecasts of rain and snowfall for several cities and northern parts.
According to Meteorological Department, there has been ongoing rainfall in different parts such as Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Chaman, Qila Abdullah and Pishin and snowfall has started from higher altitude areas like Khojak Top, Shela Bagh and Loe Band.
From February 2 to 4, it is likely that rain will occur, or snow in some mountainous areas over most areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Light rain is also predicted in various districts of Punjab including Murree, Galiyat, Multan, Jhang, Sargodha and Faisalabad.
Preparations are advised as there is a prediction of a new spell of rain and snow fall.
In the same way, rain and snowfall is expected in Chitral, Dir, Kohistan, Swat and Kalam. In Islamabad and some of the surrounding areas, the weather is likely to be cold and partly cloudy.
Rain is also expected to start today in Abbottabad as well as adjoining areas. Authorities have advised tourists and local residents to take precautionary measures in view of the intense cold and possible snowfall.
Rain, snowfall warnings issued for KP and Punjab
Earlier, PDMA Punjab issued warnings about rain and snowfall in upper parts of the province. Murree, Galyat, and adjacent areas are likely to receive snowfall while rainfall is likely pour over Potohar region, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, and Gujranwala.
Local authorities, including health departments, Rescue 1122, police and transport departments have been put on high alert. Punjab Chief Minister has directed all the concerned agencies to be ready.
DG PDMA Punjab, Irfan Ali Kathia, said the emergency control rooms will also be operated round the clock. Facilitation centres have been established in Murree to help tourists who are also advised to observe safety guidelines, avoid speeding and drive cautiously.
