Which team can give India a tough time in Super 8s?

India is beatable

Former England cricketer Moeen Ali has said India are not unbeatable in the Super 8 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 and believes more than one team can challenge them.

India are set to face South Africa in a key Super 8 match on Sunday, February 22, 2026 — a game that could shape their campaign. While many experts see South Africa as India’s biggest threat, Moeen believes another team can also trouble Suryakumar Yadav’s side.

South Africa can challenge India

Speaking to a private media outlet, Moeen said South Africa have the batting strength to push India hard.

“I think South Africa can come close. Their batting is very good. Batting-wise, they can chase anything,” he said.

South Africa’s top order has shown they can score quickly in the powerplay and finish strongly in the death overs. With India carrying one of the strongest bowling attacks in the tournament, the clash promises to be an exciting battle.

West Indies is also a big threat

Moeen also named West Indies as a serious contender.

“I think it is something the West Indies can do if they chase. Because of the power they have got, they will feel comfortable chasing,” he added.

He stressed that India can post big totals, but both South Africa and West Indies have the firepower to match them.

“It’s not like they are unbeatable. Their group is a tough group,” Moeen concluded.

West Indies remain known for their explosive T20 batting, and their power-hitters can change the game quickly — especially on batting-friendly pitches.
