Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Traffic Police released their annual performance report for 2025 that highlighted a major increase in enforcement actions against traffic law violations across the district.
As per the report more than 1,300 traffic officers and personnel are currently performing duties in Rawalpindi.
During the year over 1.1 million challan tickets were issued for various traffic violations as compared to 2024 enforcement actions increased by 44 percent in 2025.
During the year motorcyclists remained at the top of the list of violators, with more than 653,000 challans issued to motorcycle riders alone.
The report says that the highest number of challans were issued for driving without a valid license totaling over 213,200 cases. While more than 204,000 motorcyclists were fined for riding without helmets.
The report said that over 99,600 challans were issued for careless and negligent driving while 71,849 tickets were issued for violations of lane discipline and zebra crossings.
Another 56,556 challans were issued for causing obstructions to traffic flow.
According to traffic police that a noticeable reduction in fatal accidents was recorded in 2025 compared to 2024 though motorcyclists remained the leading cause of major accidents.
The reported added that special campaigns against riding without helmets and driving without licenses were launched during the year resulting in 88 percent of citizens adopting helmet use.
Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam said that a record 328,000 driving licenses were issued last year.
He said that traffic police will continue strict action against violators and saying that the purpose of challans is not punishment but the protection of citizens’ lives with a strong focus on road safety and traffic education.
