The National Weather Forecasting Centre of the Meteorological Department has issued a fresh weather advisory predicting a new spell of strong winds, rain, and thunderstorms across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa starting from the evening of May 10.
According to the forecast, a fresh wave of westerly winds is expected to enter the northwestern regions of the province on May 10, triggering widespread unstable weather conditions.
Intermittent rain and thunderstorms are likely to affect several districts, including Peshawar, Swat, Abbottabad, Mardan, Kohistan, Mansehra, Swabi and surrounding areas, continuing through May 12.
Authorities have urged tourists and residents to remain cautious, particularly in mountainous regions, due to an increased risk of landslides amid the expected weather activity.
In addition to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, this weather system is also expected to affect Punjab and the federal capital, Islamabad. Pleasant weather with rain is likely in Murree, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Sialkot.
This weather activity is expected to continue in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir from May 11 to May 13. The rainfall will reduce the intensity of heat in the northern areas; however, hot weather will persist in Sindh, Balochistan, and southern Punjab.
The Meteorological Department has warned that solar panels, electricity poles, and mud houses may be damaged due to strong winds and lightning.
Farmers have particularly been advised to take immediate precautions regarding wheat harvesting and storage in view of the weather conditions. All concerned administrative agencies have been instructed to remain on alert to deal with any emergency.
