The weather would continue to remain cold and dry on February 6, 7 and partly cloudy weather conditions are expected on February 8 in Lahore, according to the Meteorological department.
The department stated the weather situation from February 6 to 8 would be suitable for flying kites with winds blowing between 10 and 15 kilometers per hour all over the city.
The Meteorological Department has advised kite flyers to avoid electricity wires while flying kites.
Punjab govt issues Basant holiday notification
It is worth mentioning that the government of Punjab has officially issued a notification regarding the Basant 2026 holidays. As per the notification, the province will observe a holiday on February 6 and February 7, 2026. The holiday period will be implemented across the entire province.
Offices across the province will remain closed on Friday and Saturday. The government and semi-government institutions are also to remain closed in Punjab.
CM Punjab Basant’s initiative
The Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has instructed the officials to keep the safety of children as their first priority.
According to an official post of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) at X, special arrangements have been made in this regard to protect the young lives. Awareness drives have been initiated for parents and children, as the government is focused on celebrating the festival responsibly.
In her video message, CM Maryam Nawaz said, “I, along with my team members, have tried our best to cover each and every aspect to keep the Basant festival safe for the public. Now it is your turn to be a responsible citizen and cooperate with the government.
She added, “I appeal to the public to follow the precautionary guidelines and standard operating rules in letter and spirit.” She asked the public to ensure their own safety and the safety of their loved ones.
