The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in the southern parts of the country from today.
According to the department a new spell of westerly weather is likely to enter the country on February 16.
Rain is expected in various areas of Balochistan on Monday evening and Tuesday. On Tuesday rainfall may also occur in different parts of Sindh including Karachi. Rain is also expected on Monday and Tuesday in Waziristan, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan.
Meanwhile on February 17 rain is likely in various areas of South Punjab while hailstorms may occur in northern Balochistan, Dera Ismail Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan.
The Meteorological Department said that the weather will remain extremely cold in the northern districts of Balochistan. The minimum temperature recorded was 4°C in Quetta 2°C in Kalat 2°C in Ziarat and 7°C in Zhob.
According to the department minimum temperatures were recorded as 13°C in Sibi 15°C in Turbat 14°C in Nokundi 9°C in Chaman 13°C in the coastal city of Gwadar and 15°C in Jiwani.
The department has also warned that Karachi may experience an early onset of warm weather this year. Today the city is expected to have strong sunshine during the daytime with temperatures possibly rising to 31°C. Meanwhile Karachi’s air quality remains hazardous ranking 12th among the world’s most polluted cities with particulate matter levels recorded at 166.
In Lahore colder conditions are expected in the morning while temperatures may normalize by the afternoon. The maximum temperature in Lahore may reach 26°C and no rainfall is expected over the next 24 hours.
In Islamabad the weather is expected to remain cold and dry today. The morning temperature in the federal capital was recorded at 7°C while it may rise to 20°C during the day.
The Meteorological Department has said that there is no chance of rain in Islamabad today and the weather will remain cold and dry.
