Winter Vacations in Punjab Announced for All Schools

Web desk: The Punjab government has announced winter vacations for all educational institutions across the province.

According to a notification from the provincial education department, winter break will start on December 23, 2025, and continue until January 11, 2026. Schools will reopen on January 13, 2026, marking the start of the new academic session.

The department clarified that the schedule applies to both government and private schools. No institution will be allowed to alter the dates, and legal action will be taken against those who violate the order.

The decision has been taken due to the severe cold, aiming to protect students’ health and ensure they return prepared for the next session.

Earlier, the Punjab government had also adjusted school timings because of increasing smog, stating that no school should open before 8:45 am.

Winter Vacations in Balochistan

Government schools in the coldest regions of Balochistan will have an extended winter vacation of two and a half months starting from December 16, the provincial education department announced.

These long holidays are given each year to protect students from harsh winter conditions and to allow schools to plan educational activities according to the weather.

Meanwhile, schools in other cold areas, including Chaman, continue regular classes and examinations before the winter break.

In Chaman, annual exams for grades one to seven began on November 16 and will continue until November 24. Exams for grade eight will start from November 24.

Students are sitting exams in various subjects, with school administrations overseeing the process according to the scheduled timetable.

The Balochistan Board is supervising the examinations and managing the results for middle-level classes across the province.

Education officials said schools will reopen after the winter vacation once temperatures rise to a safe and suitable level for learning.

The extended winter break is an annual measure, considered necessary by parents and authorities to ensure the health and safety of students during extreme cold conditions.
