Women's World Cup

The Indian women team has won the match against Pakistan during Women’s World Cup match by 88 runs.

Sidra Ameen made 81 runs off 106 balls.

The match took place at R Premadasa Stadium on Sunday in Colombo.

Kranti Goud, for taking figures of 3 for 20, is the player of the match.

She said to the host broadcaster: “Feels very good. Proud for me, and the people from my village. They’ve got a big screen up, so they are watching from home.

Pakistan faltered in the opening powerplay, scoring just 25 runs for two wickets lost. India’s opening bowlers were on the money, and used the overarching conditions to very good use.

No handshake at Women’s World Cup

India were sloppy in the field though, having dropped three catches. Richa in particular showed plenty of frailty behind the stumps.

Following the footsteps of Suryakumar Yadav, India’s women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur skipped the customary handshake with Pakistan’s captain Fatima Sana during the toss at the Women’s World Cup.

Kaur walked past the opposing skipper, which has been perceived as disrespectful to the spirit of cricket.

India and Pakistan women’s teams have faced each other 11 times in One Day Internationals (ODIs), with India winning all 11 encounters, leaving Pakistan yet to secure a victory.
