Women's World Cup

India has won against South Africa by 52 runs in the Women’s World Cup.

The winner at the DY Patil Stadium will lift the coveted Women’s Cricket World Cup trophy for the first time in their history.

Reaching the final for a third time, Harmanpreet Kaur’s side dominated the contest.

It will also be the first Women’s Cricket World Cup final that will not feature Australia or England.

Neither team has lifted the trophy; indeed, this was South Africa’s first final.

India had come close twice before, reaching the final in 2005 and 2017, losing to Australia and England, respectively.

India and South Africa have faced each other 34 times in the women’s ODIs. India has come on top on 20 occasions, while South Africa has won 13. One match ended in a no result.

The two cricket teams also met during the league stage, with the Proteas coming out on top after chasing down a target of 252 with three wickets and seven balls to spare.

However, India has played three matches in Navi Mumbai at the world cup and is unbeaten at the venue so far. South Africa will play at the venue for the first time at this World Cup.
