Punjab Energy Department (PED) submitted a proposal to the government for energy conservation after an increase in petroleum products.

According to sources, the Punjab Energy Department (PED) has proposed holding official meetings online and working from home.

Additionally, the Punjab Energy Department (PED) has recommended introducing online classes in universities and colleges, and a hybrid system in schools and academies.

According to sources, it has been proposed to increase the use of public transport, extend the hours of the Orange Line and Metro Bus service.

Street lights on alternate mode after 10 pm

The sources also confirmed that it has been recommended to save energy by operating street-lights on alternate mode after 10 pm across the province, turning off high-intensity LEDs, billboards and neon signs, and turning off decorative lights on buildings.

On the other hand, the KP government also immediately banned non-essential official visits and events.

Earlier, the administration of the University of Karachi announced to conduct morning classes online to facilitate students during Ramzan amid the fuel price hike.

According to Karachi University officials, morning classes will be held online from March 9 until the end of Ramadan.

Students are facing transportation difficulties following the recent increase in petroleum product prices in Pakistan.
