While expressing satisfaction, Ajay Banga said the program was the first community led housing program of its kind and lauded the Sindh government’s accomplishment.

Earlier, the World Bank had provided $950 million to flood affectees for assistance and support where each house was provided with $1400 for reconstruction. He further stressed upon the importance of women’s inclusion in stabilising household income and the local economy.

In a public statement, Ajay Banga said that clean water and sanitation are crucial toward building a healthy community. The program serves as a solid foundation for the development of human capital, he added.

The community built rehabilitation model also serves as an inspiration to international communities where it is being perceived as a global standard. Rehabilitation has the ability to create employment and promote social inclusion, significantly strengthening economic opportunities in the long-run, the World Bank President said.
