Younis Khan, former captain of Pakistan is likely to be given an important role in the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Sources suggest that the legendary test batter has offered his services for the improvement of cricket. He was contacted by the PCB.
His name is now included in the proposed list for the position of new Director Domestic in the PCB.
Just like the board is using Misbah-ul-Haq and Sarfaraz Ahmed the board is planning to benefit from Younis Khan’s expertise to further improve Pakistan’s cricket.
It has been suggested that Younis Khan has been contacted by PCB officials in this regard and he has shown availability.
If the matters are finalised between the two parties then an official announcement will be made by the PCB officials.
It is likely that the appointment of Younis Khan will be approved by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
Younis Khan is one of the biggest players in Pakistan’s history. It is worth noting that he has scored over 10,000 runs in 118 test matches.
He has also served as the captain and the coach of the national team.
Similar to this development, former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed will be the new head coach of the Pakistan cricket team.
A formal announcement for the Pakistan cricket board is expected soon.
It is likely that Sarfaraz Ahmed will start his tenure during Pakistan’s scheduled two match test series against Bangladesh in May.
If he is appointed this will mark his first major role with the national side in a coaching capacity.
The role of the head coach has been vacant since October 2025. Azhar Mahmood had been serving as the interim coach during the recent series against South Africa.
