Web desk: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the fourth phase of the Youth Laptop Scheme at a ceremony held today.
The inauguration ceremony of the Prime Minister Youth Laptop Scheme 2025 was held today, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in attendance.
The Prime Minister launched the fourth phase of the laptop scheme, aimed at promoting digital learning and empowering students across the country.
Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, the Prime Minister said that the sacrifices of martyrs for the country and nation are valuable, and all resources will be utilised for the development of the young generation.
Saudi Arabia has also offered to provide free education opportunities in AI to the Pakistani workforce, he added. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that we have to move forward in the field of AI.
The Prime Minister said that Saudi Arabia is investing billions of dollars in the field of AI and that Saudi Arabia has offered to provide AI and IT education to the young generation of Pakistan. Millions of people from Pakistan will be sent to Saudi Arabia for training.
He said that if we have to spend 5 billion or even 500 billion for the education and skills of the talented children of the nation, we will not back down. One hundred thousand laptops are being distributed to the students of the country on merit under the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme.
Shahbaz Sharif said that today is a happy day for him, as he is standing in front of the capable and talented youth of the nation.
The success of the students is the result of the love and prayers of parents and teachers, he added, further saying, ‘I salute the talented students on behalf of the nation.’
The Prime Minister said that the laptop scheme was started in 2011, and laptops are being distributed on 100 per cent merit. Under the scheme, one lakh laptops will be distributed on merit.
PM Shehbaz Sharif invited Dr Bibi Darjan, a doctoral student from Balochistan, to sit in his chair. The touching moment left her teary-eyed.
Fourth Phase of Youth Laptop Scheme
The Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme is a government program that gives free laptops to deserving students studying in public universities and colleges.
The scheme, run with the help of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), aims to promote digital learning and support students.
In its latest phase (Phase IV/V) in 2025, 100,000 laptops were distributed, as per the reports. Registration for this phase is now closed.
